The Moderne Academie of Fine Arts has been fostering the love of dance for over thirty years. When you mention The Moderne Academie in Scotch Plains you’re likely to hear a lot of people say, "Oh I went there!"
Our high standards and ideals are taught by instructors who not only hold degrees in dance, but also attend regular continuing education workshops with leaders in the field. Our instructors are members of the Dance Masters Of America New York City Chapter 26 as well as Associated Dance Teachers of New Jersey.
When you join The Moderne Academie, you become part of our family. The instructors’ love of children is apparent in every class. We get excited about dance! Personal attention is given to every detail of performance, technique, and individual needs. Our main goal is to help every student achieve their maximum dance ability with minimal strain. Other activities we offer include
- Dance Exams where points are achieved to reach higher goals. Categories include: Acrobatic, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Pointe
- Scholarships such as the Francis C. Chalif and the Marion Sims scholarships, as well as those offered by the Dance Masters of America

Community service such as marching in the local parades, performing at Scotch Plains Day, and at senior centers.

Accomplishments of the studio
Graduates from The Moderne Academie of Fine Arts go on to do great things! Besides returning as instructors, here are some of their accomplishments:
- Performed in music videos
- Toured with national tours of Broadway shows such as The Lion King and Hairspray
- Danced in regional companies
- Worked in theme parks including Disney World, Hershey Park, and Great Adventure
- Awarded regional and national scholarships
- Received various awards in national competitions including Showstoppers competition (see Competition Group).
